Watermelon Sunday was named after a Summer tradition we had growing up at our church. Our church wasn't air condintioned and sometimes on a very hot Midwest Sunday when attendance was low due to the heat we would call it a Watermelon Sunday and head to the church basement where it was cooler and we would eat watermelon and fellowship instead!
